Privacy Policy

Parkoll ("the app", "we", "us") helps you understand Swedish parking signs by analyzing a photo you take with AI. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with.

Information We Collect

  • Photos you capture. When you scan a parking sign, the photo is sent to our backend and forwarded to a third-party AI provider for analysis. We do not store your photos after the analysis is complete.
  • Device identifier. We use your device's Android ID to enforce a limit on free scans. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal information we hold.
  • Usage and diagnostic data. We use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring to understand crashes, app performance, and general usage patterns.
  • Device integrity data. We use Firebase App Check (Google Play Integrity) to verify that requests to our backend come from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app. This does not identify you personally.

How We Use This Information

  • To analyze the parking sign in your photo and return a result.
  • To enforce free-scan limits and prevent abuse of our backend.
  • To diagnose crashes and improve the app's performance and reliability.

Sharing With Third Parties

To analyze your photo, we send it, along with contextual information you provide (such as the current time or whether you hold a resident permit), to OpenRouter, which routes the request to an underlying AI model provider. This data is used only to generate your result and is subject to OpenRouter's own privacy policy.

We use Google Firebase (Google LLC) for backend infrastructure, analytics, crash reporting, and device integrity checks. Firebase's data practices are governed by Google's privacy policy.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

Data Retention

Photos are not retained by us once analysis is complete. Your device's scan-quota record is retained for as long as you use the app, so we can track your remaining free scans.

Children's Privacy

Parkoll is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your Choices

Camera access is required for the app's core scanning feature; you can decline it, but the app won't be able to analyze signs. Uninstalling the app removes any data stored locally on your device.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
